Olivia Rodrigo, a Grammy-nominated artist and Time Magazine’s Entertainer of the Year, is coming to Boston on May 3.
The 19-year-old “Driver’s License” singer is taking the stage at Roadrunner, a new music venue opening in the Allston-Brighton area next month.
Tickets cost $50, according to the venue’s site and there is a four ticket limit for customers. Twenty-five cents from each ticket will go to to The Shout Syndicate, a fund for youth-led arts programs in Greater Boston. Tickets are encouraged to be purchased on their website.
“Roadrunner is unable to verify or guarantee the authenticity of tickets that were not purchased directly through an authorized sales channel,” the website read. “For this reason, we do not recommend purchasing tickets from third-party resellers. If a ticket is purchased through a third-party reseller, Roadrunner is not responsible for any fraudulent activity and will not honor invalid tickets.”
All events require attendees to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. Acceptable documentation includes a physical copy of the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention card and a digital copy of the card. Masks are also required indoors in the City of Boston in public spaces.
Rodrigo’s album, “Sour” has six Grammy Award nominations, with the singer herself nominated for Best New Artist. Her song, “Good 4 U,” was nominated for Best Music Video, with “Driver’s License” being nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
She is popular enough to perform at bigger venues, like the TD Garden, but is choosing to play smaller venues for her “Sour” tour. Roadrunner has a 3,500-person capacity.
When asked why she isn’t performing at bigger arenas, she told the LA Times, “I don’t think I should skip any steps” in her career, as this is her first album.
